If you have noticed that your lemon tree is struggling to flower, these could be the reasons.
The lemon tree is a very common tree, known not only for its fruit but also for its very fragrant flowers.
Very often, however, this plant can have difficulty flowering , indicating that something is wrong.
Let’s see what the causes could be .
- Maturity of the plant : if the plant is young it is not yet capable of producing flowers. In fact, only mature plants flower, not those that have just been planted or propagated.
- Season : Seasonality is fundamental for plants and must be respected. For lemons, the flowering season falls in spring and early autumn, when temperatures are right.
- Nutrients : A well-nourished plant is healthy and strong and can develop, therefore also produce flowers. These nutrients can be supplemented through the use of natural fertilizers.
- Light : Exposure to sunlight also plays a fundamental role. If the plant is positioned in the shade it will struggle to flower, as the lemon tree needs at least 5-6 hours of direct light a day.
- Water : This plant needs a lot of water to grow. However, it is necessary to find a balance to avoid that too much water will damage it further.
- Insects : As with all plants, the lemon tree can also be a victim of insects that undermine its health. For this reason, it is important to protect it with organic pesticides.
