Talk about creating the perfect environment for geraniums, a flower that craves your attention and care. Ahead is the time when geraniums and pelargoniums awaken from their winter sleep and need help growing and blooming.

Among all the methods of care, the use of “living water” occupies a special place. I have been looking for the perfect recipe for years, and this one, which I found in an old magazine and tested for seven years, has exceeded all expectations. Let’s discuss in detail how to make this miraculous liquid, which will be the beginning of the second half of January.

What is “living water”

This solution magically stimulates the growth and health of not only geraniums, but also other plants. The secret lies in the unique combination of components that complement each other and enhance the beneficial properties.

Plants need trace elements, especially iodine, for the synthesis of proteins and carbohydrates, as well as for photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Without this element, the immunity of plants suffers, the condition of the roots deteriorates.

The addition of iodine is especially important for geraniums that have been growing in the same soil for a long time. Many soils are initially poor in iodine, which is quickly removed with irrigation water, leaving the plants deficient.

Active oxygen-containing peroxides also play a key role in plant development. For example, hydrogen peroxide, the most inexpensive and well-known, actively enriches the soil with oxygen, which helps to improve root respiration and activate beneficial microflora.

How to make “living water”

First you need to prepare the melt water: just melt the snow in a bucket and filter it. To do this, use an old filter or simply strain through several layers of gauze.

Correct application

First, place the pots with the plants in a wide basin of warm water so that the soil is about a third covered with water. Pour the same warm water over the soil and leave it to saturate with moisture for 15 minutes.

After the excess water has drained away, put the pots back in their permanent place and carefully water each plant with 50 ml of the prepared “living water”.

This process should be repeated once a month to maintain the health and beauty of your geraniums and pelargoniums.
