In winter, I don’t need to buy green onions, because I learned to grow them myself. I use egg trays for this. But the most interesting thing about this method is that it doesn’t require soil! I want to tell you about it, I think many will definitely try to grow green onions this way.

If you plant onions now, you will definitely have your own greens for the New Year’s table, and not from the store.
First, you need to prepare the onion. It should be soaked in warm water for 6-8 hours or overnight. The onion should be small in size so that it fits in the tray.
Next, take an egg tray. It can be either cardboard or plastic. Separate the lid and the tray itself, where there are cells, into separate parts.
The lid will act as a tray, set it aside for now.
Make small holes in the cells, something like this:

Wipe the onions dry, cut off the tops a little and place them in the cells.
Place it on a tray with water. There should be enough water to keep the roots wet. The bulb itself should not touch the water, otherwise it will start to rot.
Done! Now you just need to be patient to wait for the feathers to grow. The water needs to be changed every two days.
As you can see, everything is very simple. Moreover, there is no soil, which means no dirt.
If you want, you can disinfect the trays. But personally, I sometimes don’t do this, I plant the onions right away.
