Onion peels can help re-energize your plant.

Very often, despite our care, the orchids we have at home can begin to wilt .

In these cases, however, it is not necessarily true that the plant should be completely thrown away, but you can try to reinvigorate it with natural ingredients .

In fact, if you want to take care of your plants without necessarily having to resort to industrial and harmful products, know that it is possible to do so easily and with an ingredient that you certainly have at home!

Natural fertilizers , in fact, are an excellent green alternative to the industrial fertilizers found on the market: they can fertilize the soil by enriching it with minerals and nutrients , restoring strength and vitality to orchids.

Finally, they also represent a real economic saving as it is possible to make them at home with ingredients that we would normally consider waste , without having to buy specific gardening products that can be very expensive.

So let’s see how to do it, using onion peel .

Required materials

  • Waterfall
  • Container
  • Onion peel
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Colander
  • Spray
  • Funnel

Procedure

  1. First, put the onion peel in a container, then dilute it with 1 liter of water.
  2. Close tightly and leave to act for 12 hours.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare a solution of water and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle.
  4. Spray this mixture on the roots of the orchids.
  5. Filter the liquid obtained with the onion peel.
  6. After replanting the orchid in your preferred container and soil, arrange the onion peel around it.
  7. Wet with the mixture obtained before, then using the spray bottle, also spray the leaves.

Where to place the orchid to make it bloom again

After having carried out the treatment with the natural fertilizer, it is important to position the orchid plant well so that it can enjoy the right light and temperature to bloom again.

In general, it is advisable to place it in a room with very mild temperatures , thus avoiding sudden changes in temperature.

In addition, the orchid needs several hours of light a day to bloom. However, it is important not to expose it to direct light. The ideal position could be the windowsill of a window covered, even partially, by a curtain.
