Every season has its fruits and many times we just wait for one of these to be able to taste our favorites and enjoy the flavor of our favorite fruit par excellence. But there are some fruits that can be found in the market throughout the year and are among the most popular and common, even if some of these have origins in places totally different from those where we live.
Bananas: Why You Should Never Throw Them Away
Some of these fruits that are loved by us Italians are bananas, which are very useful for our health as a source of potassium and can often be used in any type of recipe.

Originally from tropical areas , it has been used for many years on the tables of our peninsula and is almost never missing from the house to the point of having been painted in some paintings that represent still lifes. Often, due to its shape, it is associated with the male member and its name is also used as a sexual allusion following the song La Banana, very popular in the 2000s.

In the market, we usually find yellow bananas, or green bananas depending on their ripeness, although it is always better, as experts advise, to consume those that are of medium ripeness. However, there are various types of bananas, including light blue ones that, due to their ripeness, tend to have a vanilla flavour but are almost impossible to find in Italy. On the other hand, in recent times in Italy it is possible to find red bananas that are much sweeter than the normal ones, even if their cost is high and is about three times higher than the normal ones.
The secret that few people know
The banana has also become very popular with children as a result of its popularity thanks to the Minions, Despicable Me ‘s minions who are greedy for this fruit. But not everyone knows that even if we only eat the inside of the fruit and throw away the peel, we are actually wasting something really precious that we should all use at home. In fact, videos are spreading around the web explaining that once the banana is peeled, you have to keep the rigid part at the end that holds all the fruits together and let it dry.

However, before putting it in the sun, it is good to cut the stem and open it so that you can see all the fibers that are removed and placed inside a container exposed to the sun for a few hours. What we will have is a set of banana fibers that will be very useful for our plants, since placing them in the soil inside the pot will act as an excellent fertilizer for our plants. In this way, they will grow strong and vigorous not only by acquiring water but also the intrinsic properties within the banana fibers that in contact with water and soil will give vigor to our plant.
