Every gardener knows firsthand how difficult it is to grow tomatoes, because they are distinguished by their capriciousness and therefore require considerable effort. Tomatoes often suffer from harmful insects and various diseases. They can also react negatively to watering. To get a good harvest of tomatoes, vacationers need to play with them.

The first rule that all gardeners should follow is the right soil for growing tomatoes. To do this, you need to fill the soil with fertilizer in the fall and then dig it up before the onset of winter.

List of required additives:

  1. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers  that are spread over the beds and then not buried deeply.
  2. Lime.  It is used against the higher acidity of the soil, as it is unacceptable for this crop.
  3. Bird droppings.  Favorite tomato dressing. Organic matter, which this fertilizer is rich in, is necessary for tomatoes when they form a green mass and a strong bush. Fertilizer should be distributed over the entire surface of the soil and buried to the depth of a shovel.
  4. Fertilizer and ash.  And this fertilizer is necessary during flowering and fruit formation.

Important recommendations before growing tomatoes:

When planting seedlings, it is not recommended to use mineral mixtures, since they are characterized by their strong effect. And during this period, the plant must first gain green mass and form strong roots.

In the spring, when tomatoes are planted, fertilizers are not applied. This procedure is carried out in the fall so that all the necessary components have time to be distributed in the soil. This applies not only to nitrogen fertilizers, which have a quick decomposition time and are washed with water.

In addition, 24 hours before transplanting the seedlings, the soil should be fed with a solution of manganese and yeast. To do this, dissolve 10 grams of yeast in a bucket of water and leave to infuse for a day.

Application:  one glass – one fountain.

It is also necessary to add 100 grams of wood ash to each hole, which is rich in potassium needed for plants.

We apply fertilizer 10 days after planting the seedlings. The garbage is dissolved in water, maintaining the ratio of 1:15.

By the way, onion peel protects tomatoes from harmful insects. You can simply put it in the holes or prepare a special solution by pouring boiling water (1:5) over the leaves and leaving it to brew for 10 hours. This method helps protect against fungal diseases.

And eggshells saturate the soil with calcium.

Please note:  From mid-summer onwards the fruits begin to form, so it is advisable to reduce the frequency of watering to keep them plump and strong.
