Nutrition is essential for gut health. By including a particular ingredient in our meals, it is easier to detoxify it, let’s see what it is.

It was in  1998  that Dr.  Michael D. Gershon  of  Columbia University  put forward his theory that every human being has  two brains  . In what sense? According to this theory,  the gut is our second brain  . In fact, scientific studies have shown that our gut  contains over 100 million neurons  . These neurons are linked to feelings of  anxiety , stress , and tension  .

In light of this data, we understand that our  intestine  is a really  important organ  and that it must be  safeguarded  with  a correct and careful diet  , since our  physical and psychological health  depends on it . Unfortunately, more and more people find themselves facing  intestinal problems  that cause an  accumulation of toxins  in the body. What are these problems and how can they be  solved  ? There are  foods  that help us  ,  let’s see which ones.

Constipation and Toxin Accumulation: A Common Problem

As mentioned, more and more people,  adults and children  , suffer from  intestinal problems  such as  constipation  . It is a disorder that affects the intestine, causing symptoms such as  abdominal pain  ,  stomach pain  ,  cramps  ,  nausea and bloating  . All these symptoms can be attributed to  irregular bowel movements  caused by constipation. This irregularity, however, has its origin in the  inability to eliminate toxins and waste  from the body, a situation that can occur for the most diverse causes. So what to do?

At this point, you will have to puree the raisins and cooked plums  using a  hand blender  . After this, we will obtain a kind of  fruit compote  . If we wish, we can  set aside part  of this compote to consume  one or two teaspoons a day  . Let’s keep the rest aside because  we will need it later  . Now we will have to  clean the pear and the two kiwis  and cut them into pieces, place them in a  blender  and  pour the broth  previously obtained from cooking the plums and raisins. We add  1 or 2 tablespoons  of our  fruit compote  and  mix  everything until we obtain our  detoxifying smoothie  .

To improve its effectiveness, you can drink  a glass  of smoothie  every day  , at  breakfast  or during the day as a  snack  . In addition to being  simple and quick  , this preparation is also  practical  because you can  keep the smoothie in the refrigerator  to drink it during the week.

Because it’s good

Why is  the  mixture of these fruits a panacea to detoxify the intestine  ? The reason lies in the  properties  of  plums, raisins, pears and kiwis  . Prunes, first of all  ,  are known for their  laxative power  , which therefore promotes  intestinal transit  . This is due to the fact that prunes contain  sorbitol  , which is a  natural purgative  , but also  chlorogenic and neochlorogenic acid  , all substances that stimulate  intestinal peristalsis  . In addition, prunes contain  soluble fibers  which, thanks to their properties, help  preserve the bacterial flora  of our intestine.

And  what about kiwis  ? This fruit is also  rich in fiber  and stimulates  the transit  and  regularity  of the intestines. Suffice it to say that an  average kiwi  of almost  70 g  contains about  2 grams of fiber  .

In addition, a  medium pear  contains  6 grams of fiber  , which is also an additional source of  sorbitol  . Raisins ,  for  their part, facilitate  digestion  , can  relieve constipation  and promote  intestinal transit  . In addition, it contains  magnesium and potassium  , useful for regulating  the level of acidity  in the stomach and facilitating the  elimination of toxins  .
