Did you know that it is possible to propagate roses using a potato ? It may seem strange to you, but it is an  effective method recommended by gardeners themselves.  It is also very simple and you do not even need to have the so-called “ green thumb”  to succeed.

The rose is the queen of flowers and everyone likes to surround themselves with them at home: we explain how to multiply them endlessly with a potato.

Propagate roses endlessly without spending a euro, do it with a potato: it’s very easy!

Rose

Are you ready to learn the method to propagate roses using a potato ? Here’s what you need to do.

Start by  cutting the cuttings  about  20 cm long. It  is fundamental that they come from an adult plant that has already flowered at least once. With a pair of  well-cleaned and disinfected scissors , make  a  clean and oblique cut  and then place the  cuttings in a glass of water where they will remain until the potatoes needed to multiply them are ready.Take fresh potatoes and possibly without dark parts and then make  a hole in the center with  the help of a pencil. Now  place the cutting in the potato with  the help of a piece of  cinnamon.Pour  a little  universal soil  into fairly large flowerpots and place the potatoes in the center leaving the cuttings out of the soil.

To encourage seedling growth and  counteract humidity and heat , cover them with a  plastic bag  , but remember  to remove it at least once a day to allow the cuttings to get air. You will see  roots start to sprout in a couple of weeks.  The potato provides all the nutrients seedlings need to develop and grow healthily.

Roses: If you do this, you will have them beautiful, strong and healthy!

It’s time to take proper care of the seedlings. The  temperature  should  never fall below 20° , but  avoid direct sunlight.  Make sure the  soil is always moist , but to avoid stagnant water, which would be harmful,  empty the saucers every day.  When the seedling has developed,  transplant it  into the garden or into a  pot of the right size.

However, in order not to make a completely unnecessary effort, we assume that not all varieties of roses can reproduce in the way we have just shown you. To avoid mistakes, before starting the operation, you should seek advice from a good gardener or  an experienced gardener you trust
