If you have expired yeast, don’t throw it away: it can be a valuable help to your plants.

Yeast is an ingredient at the base of many culinary  preparations , so it is very common to have it at home.

However, it can happen that you forget or do not check the  expiration date  . After the expiration date, the yeast is of course useless in the kitchen, but it can be a great help in the garden.

So avoid throwing it away and let’s see how it   can be used for plants .

  1. Liquid fertilizer: Yeast can be the basis of an excellent  fertilizer  for your plants. It is enough to simply dissolve one and a half teaspoons in 2-3 liters of water and moisten the plants with the resulting solution.
  2. Solid fertilizer:  If you prefer a solid version, all you have to do is freeze the yeast water solution in the practical ice cutters. Once solidified, your fertilizer cubes are ready: simply apply to the soil and let it melt.
  3. Anti-mosquitoes:  If you want to keep these annoying insects away from your garden, you can prepare a yeast-based anti-mosquito solution: combine in a container 250 ml of hot water, a teaspoon of yeast and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Place the jar in the affected area and leave it for a few days.
  4. Ants : If you notice that your plants are often surrounded by ants, you can make a powder that will eliminate them in a completely natural way: combine sugar, baking soda and brewer’s yeast (with a proportion of one third for each ingredient). Spread the powder obtained on windowsills or around pots to keep ants away from your plants.
