To always have it fresh, green and fragrant.
If you love herbs, you will definitely have a basil seedling on your balcony or windowsill. With its fragrance, it is perfect for seasoning numerous preparations in the kitchen .
However, basil is a very delicate plant and tends to wilt immediately if not cared for properly.
So let’s look at some useful tips to make it last longer.
- Fertilizer : Fertilizer is a fundamental component for feeding plants. In the case of basil, the ideal is based on coffee grounds: crumble them and spread them on the soil, then moisten them with water. You can also repeat this operation once a week.
- Location: Placing the plant in the right place can promote growth. In spring, basil can be placed outside if temperatures are mild enough (not below 15 degrees) and where it can enjoy sunlight for at least 4 hours a day.
- Paper: However, if it is a newly purchased seedling, all the packaging with which they are usually packed must be removed.
- Saucer: Checking it daily will help you get an idea of the ideal amount of water for basil. If you notice it is full of water, empty it as excess water can cause the roots to rot.
- Dry leaves: If you notice dry, yellow or spotted leaves, simply remove them by gently removing them with your hands to prevent disease from spreading to the rest of the plant.
