But growing a tree is another story. Only many ignore that it can be cultivated starting from the seed in the fruit, let’s see how it is done.

To begin with we will take ripe cherries that reach the typical dark red color. If this is not the case, we risk taking cherries with a pit that has not yet formed. Now let’s take our pit and leave it in the air (about 5/7) and let it dry a whole night (even if we want to expose it to the sun).
Now we must go with a pair of pliers to break down the kernel with a hammer. In this way we will remove the outer shield to take the inner kernel, which will serve us to root it. Once we have taken the almonds, we will prepare a plastic tray with a lid and also take a sheet of absorbent paper from which we will take two portions of equal size.
Place one of the two on the ground and moisten it with a spray nebulizer filled with water. Now let’s put the stones inside and then cover them again with another sheet of absorbent paper and moisten it again with more water. Now we put the tray in the fridge. After about 10 days the first shoots will be born. Let’s go and gently expose them and we will notice that the sprouts have started to come out.
Now let’s take a glass of soil and place it in a soft, permeable soil (a mixture of universal soil and perlite). We make a small depression in the middle about 1 cm deep and then place the seed in it. We place the new root towards the bottom of the glass. Then we put it back together with some soil and put it in the shade.
It will take some time, but with calmness and patience, sooner or later we will see our cherry tree take root at home. It will grow strong and lush, and we will have received it completely free of charge!
