Geranium, with the trick of the branch you multiply it infinitely without cost

Geraniums can be easily propagated by cuttings  and we will show you how to do this step by step below. In order to propagate our geraniums endlessly, we need the following material:

  • a mature geranium
  • small plastic containers
  • seedbed substrate
  • Sand
  • knife or scissors
  • rooting hormone (optional)

1. First, we select the healthiest, firmest and thickest stems and  cut them above the second armpit from the top.  That is, directly above the place where the leaves sprout.

2.  Remove the leaves and shoots from the lower half of the cutting . Finally, we cut off the lower end of the stem just below a node. Here there is a higher concentration of the plant’s natural rooting hormones.

3. To improve the success rate, soak the base of each cutting with a small amount of rooting hormone to  stimulate root growth.

4. We fill the pots with a  mixture of seedbed substrate and sand . This will improve drainage. In each pot we place 2-3 cuttings. We water well and place the pots with cuttings in a  well-lit place in the house.  It is better not to cover the cuttings with plastic so as not to encourage the appearance of mold.

5. After a few weeks the wound will have healed and  we will start to see the first roots . At 6-8 weeks the cutting should already have a good, well-established root system.

6. We can  now transplant each cutting into a single pot  with a common substrate. We will keep them with a good level of humidity and then in the following weeks we can plant the geranium wherever we want.

With this simple trick, you will have plenty of geranium seedlings in your garden at almost zero cost. What are you waiting for? Try it!
