What are violets?

Violets are flowering perennials that can grow both in pots and in the ground. To overcome this problem, here is a trick that promises great blooms from your plant.

How to make them bloom

The secret ingredient you will need is constantly used in all kitchens. These are the eggs that, after serving you for your home preparations, can still be useful to you. In fact, to make your  violets bloom, you will need eggshells. First, you will want to avoid throwing them away, pass them under running water and then let them dry in the sun if possible. Alternatively, you can put them on a baking tray and put them in the oven for a quarter of an hour at 150 degrees. Once the eggshells are dry, you will need to crumble them. To do this, you can use your hands or the back of a spoon. The operation must be coarse since the eggshells will have to be passed through the blender. The shell powder thus obtained will be used for your violets.  It will be an extremely beneficial compound because it has a high calcium content, which is essential for the development of plants. However, before putting it on your violets, you will need to do some maintenance. Specifically, you will have to cut off all the dried flowers and leaves. This happens often, especially after the plant has flowered. Only then can the violets bloom again. If dried flowers and leaves remain on the plant for too long, they could prevent new shoots from emerging. The same applies to dried leaves. Leave the small, new leaves so that they have a way to germinate faster.

eggshells

Before placing the eggshells on the soil, the latter must be slightly loosened. This can be done with the help of a spade or, if it is a small vase, with kitchen scissors. It must be said, however, that the pots must be changed frequently. With the help of a spoon, pour the previously obtained eggshell powder  from above. It must cover the entire part of the soil near the roots of the plant. You can also move the soil so that the powder penetrates to the bottom. The next step is to give the plant water. This operation must be repeated every evening, to guarantee the plant the calcium it needs. After a few weeks, you will see your violet bloom like never before.
